BALDWIN CITY, Kan. -- Baker University was founded 152 years ago. Tonight, the Baker wrestling team made history defeating York College (Neb.), in their first ever dual-meet competition.
Brandon Gebhardt from Las Vegas, Nevada sealed the dual in the 197 lbs match when he took down Shuan Howard to give Baker the 30-15 advantage from which they never looked back.
Freshman Joe Pace from Platte City, Missouri was the first Baker wrestler to win a match on Saturday evening when he pinned Jamel Wheatley to give Baker the 21-15 advantage in the 174 lb match.
Freshman Jacob Nowak responded in the 184 lb match immediately after defeating Bryan Irsik a Junior from Garden City, Kansas by a score of 7-3.
Baker will be back in action tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m., when they host the Dan Harris Wildcat Open all-day long in the George F. Collins Center.
