NORFOLK, Va. -- Old Dominion University wrestler Jesse Strawn (Holton, Kansas/Holton) was recognized for his perfect weekend on the mat as he was named CAA Co-Wrestler of the Week today. With Rider's Doug Umbehauer, who went 4-0 at the Virginia Duals, Strawn earned ODU's second conference honor this season.
Strawn, a 197-pounder, posted his team-leading 11th fall at the Duals and led ODU to a fifth place finish. He also led ODU to a win over #24 Kent State University, scoring a go-ahead takedown on the edge with less than one second remaining against Eric Chine. The win sealed the victory for Old Dominion headed into the final match.
Strawn is 23-8 this season and is ranked as high as 13th nationally.
ODU heads to the CAA Duals this weekend in Fairfax, Virginia at George Mason University and will face Binghamton at 10:00 am, Drexel at Noon, and Hofstra at 2:00 pm.
