Madrigal to transfer from ODU to George Mason

Alex Madrigal

Alex Madrigal, a two-time NCAA qualifier, announced Thursday on Twitter that he is transferring from Old Dominion to George Mason.

"Excited to announce that I will be transferring and finishing my last two years at George Mason University!" tweeted Madrigal. "Incredibly grateful to be joining this amazing staff, and great group of guys. Ready to accomplish my goals these next two years. Thanks to everyone who has helped me get here. Pumped to join the Mason wrestling family and #BeUncommon. Let's get to wrork."

Marigal qualified for the NCAAs at 141 pounds this past season after qualifying in 2017 as a redshirt freshman at 133 pounds.

Madrigal attended Oak Park River Forest (Ill.), where he was a state finalist as a senior in 2015.

A very good move for Alex, as he will be going into a program where the Coach at GM will not only make him a better wrestler, but will care for him after he graduates, Something that Coach Martin NEVER does! As a former Coach in the (old) CAA, there was one coach who I, and most of the others could not get along with - Guess Who???
